 An Overview of DSRC

In 1999 the U.S. Federal Commission of Telecommunications, has dedicated 75MHz of dedicated short range communications in the 5.9 MHz band to the vehicle to vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) communications. This technology is a progressing communication technology and aims to establish local wireless communications with the high data rate for stationary and mobile users. The standard of this technology is IEEE802.11p aka WAVW, which is used for vehicular communications. This standard has been defined by the IEEE institute. This standard has been published in July 15, 2010. The frequency range is 5.85-5.92 GHz, and the data rate is 3-27 Mbps that can support various applications even high-speed internet access while travelling.

This report aims to present an initial introduction to DRSC technology.
